Praise for ‘world class’ Latham impact

Coach Andrew Stanley hailed the ‘world class’ contribution of Aussie ace Chris Latham as the full back star waved goodbye to Worcester Warriors with another rugby masterclass in the narrow derby day defeat to Gloucester.

Latham was at his all-action best as he captained Worcester on his final appearance at Sixways before returning home after a two-year stay in England.

After the game the legendary full back signed autographs around the stadium pitch and spoke to his avid army of supporters for an hour as hundreds lined the pitch.

And Stanley was full of praise for the impact that Latham has made during his time with the Warriors.

“Chris is a world class player and he has imparted a lot of knowledge to a lot of people,” he said.

“He has been great to have around the place and his commitment to the cause has been fully illustrated today.

“He got a bang on the head about ten minutes out and it would have been the easiest thing to throw the towel in and come off.

“But he didn’t want to do that and stuck on. That speaks volumes about his commitment and the type of man he is. We all wish him every success in the future.”
