Louis proves a real derby Silver lining

Coach Andrew Stanley praised the full debut performance of scrum half Louis Silver as the youngster excelled in the heat of derby day battle against Gloucester Rugby.

Academy product Silver was a late call-up for the injured Jonny Arr for the big Sixways showdown.

However, the 19-year-old showed no sign on nerves and capped a fine display by creating a third try for Joe Carlisle with a tap tackle on Nicky Robinson as Warriors just came up short in a thrilling finale.

“Louis has been a surprise for us and a fantastic find. He is a Hereford lad who has jumped out the box for us,” said Stanley.

“He has been totally under the radar and not played any kind of age group rugby, but against Leeds he was the 33rd boy to progress from the Academy to the first team.

“Louis didn’t know he was playing against Gloucester until I spoke to him early in the morning so to put the kind of performance in was an outstanding effort.”
