Community team starts Walk for Matt

Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the start of this year’s walk to the Guinness Premiership Final at Twickenham Stadium in aid of The Matt Hampson Trust.

The 120 mile trip will see clubs from the Guinness Premiership team up to walk along the canal route which starts at Clifton Cruisers in Rugby Town.

The Warriors Community Team will between them complete the route which will take seven days in total, averaging 20 miles a day. The Warriors are big supporters of Matt, after a serious scrummaging accident in training left him paralyzed from the neck down needing full time care and support.

“Rugby has a strong supportive family culture, not just in the stadiums on match days, but away from the field too,” said Warriors Community Rugby Manager Steve Joslin.

“It is important that when injuries and accidents of this nature occur, that we remember the bigger picture and look past the badge you wear, or the colour of your shirt.

“Matt is a wonderfully strong and inspirational individual, and we are proud to support his cause. He recently attended the charity match we played for the Matt Hampson Trust here at Sixways, and was in great spirits and very much looking forward to this event.”

The Community Team have set up a just giving site, where anybody wishing to donate can do so by clicking on the following link http://www.justgiving.com/Warriors-Community or by visiting the just giving site and typing WARRIORS COMMUNITY into the find your friend box.
