Hill keen for cross-border cup tests

Head Coach Richard Hill believes the British & Irish Cup can provide his Warriors with a fresh ‘rugby education’ as they face cross border cup rugby against new opposition.

Warriors have this season been drawn in a pool with top Welsh Principality Premiership club Newport, Irish province Leinster and Scottish newcomers Currie.

Hill is keen for his squad to perform in the cup competition that will also see Warriors face RFU Championship rivals Plymouth Albion and holders Cornish Pirates on home soil.

And he believes away fixtures against Leinster in Dublin and Currie in Edinburgh will be beneficial as they take his team out of the comfort zone.

“It’s a competition that will take players out of their comfort zone against different opposition and styles, something that I believe can be a very positive thing,” said Hill.

“It will widen the player’s rugby education and give them a different level of competition to what we are used to when we face the likes of Newport, Currie and Leinster who will all be new to us.

“It’s a refreshing competition and all part of the Championship experience for us. This is a tournament that is attached to the league we play in and we intend to do well in it.
