Warriors and RFU team up for Italian Job

Worcester Warriors Community Rugby Officer Harry Orgee and RFU Community Rugby Coach Dan Tanner were last week based in Northern Italy to deliver a two-day Coach Education course to up and coming Italian rugby coaches.

The course, which was organised by Italia Pro Rugby, focused on some of the key coaching principles that are used in rugby delivery from under eight-year-olds to senior men’s rugby.

Situated 60km from the Austrian border and in the picturesque Italian mountains, 20 coaches both observed and delivered their own practical rugby sessions and were given both positive and constructive feedback by the two tutors.

The course tied in with a Pro Rugby rugby camp for 30 young athletes, who as well as attending were on hand to be used for the rugby sessions delivered by both Harry and Dan for the coaches to observe and gain valuable knowledge.

Harry Orgee commented: “It was an excellent opportunity for Dan and me to experience different styles of coaching as well gain further knowledge. We hope that every coach who attended the course will be able to take something back to their respective club and develop their own players and teams to more success and ultimately for them to enjoy their own coaching further.”
