Top award for Warriors Study Centre

Worcester Warriors and Worcestershire County Council are celebrating off the pitch following the Warriors Study Centre’s ‘Playing for Success’ (PfS) partnership being awarded nationally acclaimed standards for its provision and service to schools.

The Study Centre recently achieved Established status in Quality in Study Support (QiSS) following a presentation and scrutiny of evidence at a recognition meeting at Nottingham Forest FC.

The award recognises the high level of work being done at the Warriors' Sixways Stadium base and demonstrates how the Study Centre has built upon the initial awarding of Emerged status in October 2008.

The Centre received particular praise for the methods by which data is gathered, analysed and used to measure the impact of its PfS programme. The Centre is now targeting Advanced status within the next three years.

'Playing for Success' is a Department for Education initiative aimed at raising achievement at Key Stages 2 and 3 and the award, bestowed by Canterbury Christchurch University, validates the developing work of the Centre in supporting schools countywide. Over 50 Worcestershire schools have received the support of the Study Centre through its funded core PfS programme and many schools have engaged with other daytime support programmes offered at the Centre.
