Six new Warriors set for home debut

Head Coach Richard Hill handed six summer signings a Sixways debut as Worcester Warriors launch their preparations for the RFU Championship season with a pre-season friendly on home soil against Stourbridge Saxons.

Wingers Tom Arscott and Oriol Ripol will both start the game while a new centre partnership will see Rob Higgitt and Alex Crockett combine.

The pack also welcomes two new faces as Ed Shervington starts at hooker and Scottish international prop Bruce Douglas is named in the front row.

Chris Pennell will also skipper the side for the first time from full back and new boss Hill is keen for his team to hit the floor running in the clash.

“The starting 15 represent those players who are rewarded for training for 100 percent of the pre-season programme,” said Hill.

“It is my official first game in charge and I have set a number of targets and objectives for the side in this particular fixture.

“I want us to keep the ball in hand and start as we mean to go on this season. We will play with width and all the players will be told to retain possession. We don’t want to be kicking the ball away, we want to use it and use it well.”

Fans are reminded that the game forms part of the Warriors Open Day! Entrance is FREE with gates open from 10am with a range of activities planned, including meet the players and stadium tours.
