Club Statement – County Hall Park & Ride

Worcester Warriors wishes to inform supporters that the Park & Ride facility operated from County Hall on matchdays will not be in operation until further notice.

Shaun Roberts, Sixways Complex Manager, said: “We entered into an agreement ten years ago with West Mercia Constabulary, Worcestershire County Council and the Safety Advisory Group which later formed part of our matchday transport plan.

“The aim was to reduce the volume of traffic around the stadium and maximise the use of a bus service and keep the roads clear for non-rugby users. This included the Park & Ride facilities that operated from County Hall, Blackpole and Worcester city centre.

“Unfortunately at the 11th hour we have been informed that Worcestershire County Council now wish to charge for this facility, despite it having previously been agreed that it was in the interests of all concerned to remove traffic from public highways around the stadium on matchdays.

“We are disappointed with the timing of this decision and are trying to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

“First Bus Service will continue to operate its regular service, as per the timetable and with extra services, from the Worcester City Bus Station and Blackpole Industrial Estate East.

“We are aware that residents in the local area use this facility and hence have suggested to Worcestershire County Council that they may wish to revisit this decision.”
