Last few places for Chairman’s Lunch

Cecil Duckworth and his guests would like to invite you once again to his annual Chairman’s lunch that will this year take place on Friday, October 1 between 2pm and 6pm. We will have our very own Worcester Warriors first team stars and coaching staff in attendance where you will have the opportunity to mingle as well as dine with a Warrior.

This year we will be been joined by ‘Britain's original SAS hero’ – Andy McNab. McNab is a former SAS soldier and bestselling author. He worked as an instructor on the SAS selection and training team and instructed foreign Special Forces in counter terrorism, hostage rescue and survival training. McNab has written about his experiences in the SAS in two bestselling books. The BBC's film of Bravo Two Zero, was shown on primetime BBC 1 television in 1999.

Awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM) during his military career, he was the British Army’s most highly decorated serving soldier when he finally left the SAS in 1993.

McNab will be joining forces with Ian Smith from Rabjohns LLP in raising funds for the charity Ataxia UK. Ian will be walking from coast to coast in September for Ataxia with the route crossing the breadth of England, from St. Bees Head on the Irish Sea coast to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea. Ataxia is the name given to a group of neurological disorders that affect balance, coordination, and speech. There are many different types of ataxia that can affect people in different ways. Ataxia is similar in some ways to MS and sufferers often used to be incorrectly misdiagnosed with MS. It is degenerative and those affected usually have to use a wheelchair. Around 10,000 adults in the UK have a type of ataxia and Ataxia UK is currently funding research to find out how many children have the condition – it’s thought there are several thousand. Ataxia UK funds research projects to try to find treatments that can help ataxia, and ultimately to find a cure. The Charity also provides support to families affected by the disease.
