Deadly backline delight Head Coach

Richard Hill was full of praise for his ‘deadly’ back three as Marcel Garvey got in on the try scoring act with a quick-fire double to sink Bristol Rugby at Sixways.

Garvey scored twice in the space of five second half minutes to ensure Worcester took maximum points from the RFU Championship encounter.

Hill admitted he was pleased with his attacking weapons and how they were sharing the tries in the opening months of the season.

However, Hill’s enthusiasm over the win against Bristol was tempered by an injury to Jake Abbott who was stretchered off after 20 minutes of the first half with a knee injury.

“We have got some real potent attacking threats,” he said. “If you have a side with Tom Arscott, Miles Benjamin and Marcel Garvey as a back three then if you give them half a chance they are deadly.

“One week one guys scores a brace, the next week another gets tries. Between them they are clocking up tries.

“I’m not too sure about Jake but he is very positive,” he added. “It initially didn’t look too good but we will have to wait and see, I seriously don’t know yet.

“It could be an MCL or ACL, but he is in good spirits in the dressing room and we hope the scan is positive.

“Overall the pack was better tonight – it was a tough encounter. We raised our game and the scrum and lineout was a good battle. I was pleased with the way we carried the ball,” finished Hill.

“We will now look to keep that 22 stable for the next few games. I have chopped and changed selection, but will now look to keep selection steady for the coming weeks.”
