Study Centre – Volcanoes and hurricanes

Volcanoes, hurricanes and emergency evacuations …. Thirty Y9 GCSE Triple Science students from Arrow Vale High School, Redditch recently made the trip to the Study Centre to take up the simulated e-Mission challenge.

During a video conference link up with the National Space Centre in Leicestershire the students’ objective was to attempt to save the inhabitants of the Carribbean island of Montserrat.

Students worked in teams to monitor the seismic activity of a volcano and used real-time satellite data to track the approach of a hurricane threatening to destroy the island.

Kit design competition…. over 100 students aged nine to 13-years-old attending ‘Playing for Success’ after school programme contributed an entry to the Warriors kit design competition.

Students studied past and present Warriors kit designs and were shown the uniqueness of modern styles compared to the traditional rugby shirt.

Duly inspired the students used an online site and came up with a varied selection of colours and styles The older students developed their work further by adding the Warriors logo and shirt sponsors during the final process.
