Head Coach Richard Hill has revealed flanker Pat Sanderson is pushing for a recall as Worcester Warriors travel to London Welsh in the RFU Championship this Sunday (kick-off 2pm).
Sanderson has not featured in a league match since suffering an injury in the victory at local rivals Moseley in early October.
However, after a 40-minute appearance against Leeds Carnegie at the start of the week, the former England international has proven his fitness and given Hill a selection call for the trip to the capital.
“I have a decision to make and we haven’t selected the side just yet,” revealed Hill. “The thought was that if Pat came through Friday night we might look to involve him in the 22.
“I will make a decision in the next day or two, but the likelihood is that Pat will come in the squad. We just need to have a look at a few more sessions. If he comes through then we will try to involve him.
“He played 40 minutes for the A team and now it is my call, based on that display and training, whether he is fit and ready to go. He is a genuine contender.”
Hill has also revealed positive news over centre duo Greg King and Rob Higgitt ahead of the visit of Plymouth Albion to Sixways the following Saturday.
“The treatment room looks better. Greg King has proved his fitness and Rob will be available for Plymouth Albion,” said Hill.
“Rob was touch and go for this weekend, we could have put him in the 22, but we have left him a week.
“The only ones we will then have are the long term guys like Chris Pennell, Jake Abbott and Matt Mullan.”
