Modus Challenge Cup game is cancelled

Supporters are advised that the annual Modus Challenge Cup fixture – due to take place following the completion of the British & Irish Cup game between Warriors and Newport tomorrow (Saturday) – has now been cancelled.

The schools fixture – between King’s Worcester and RGS Worcester – was rescheduled to take place this Saturday afternoon after freezing conditions saw the original date in late November called off.

However, the game will now not take place due to concerns over the state of the playing surface ahead of forthcoming Worcester Warriors fixtures.

“We are desperately disappointed not to be able to host this fixture which has become the biggest game in local schools rugby,” said Charlie Little, General Manager at Warriors.

“The pitch has been deemed playable, however, there is still frost within the soil and we are expecting the pitch to cut up significantly tomorrow.

“With freezing temperatures forecast for Saturday early evening, with this schools game scheduled to kick-off at 4pm, and forthcoming games against Moseley Rugby to consider we have made the only decision available to us.”
