Game ON after huge Sixways clear-up

Worcester Warriors are pleased to announce that as of 6pm this evening (Monday) the rescheduled league game against Moseley Rugby in the RFU Championship will go ahead as planned tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) with a 3pm kick-off.

A huge clean-up operation has been underway at the home of the Warriors throughout the day as ground staff, Sixways staff and volunteers from Worcester Rugby Supporters Club (WRSC) work on the snow covered stadium pitch and frost hit areas around the complex.

The pitch is now clear of snow – following extensive work by diggers and snow ploughs – and Warriors can confirm the playing surface is currently playable. Frost sheets will continue to protect the pitch overnight as club officials monitor weather conditions.

The concourse at the complex, seating decks and gyratory are now clear of snow and the current thaw is expected to continue to aid the clear-up over the next 12 hours. All tarmac roads inside the stadium have also been snow ploughed and the access is now considered good.

Supporters making the journey to Sixways on Tuesday are asked to allow plenty of time to make their journey and be patient on arrival as they are directed by stewards. It is hoped the thaw will also help clear the car parking areas. Any further information on car parking will be released on Tuesday morning.

Charlie Little, General Manager at Warriors, said: “Staff and volunteers have worked throughout the day to clear away the heavy snow and the pitch is now cleared and protected by frost sheets.

“It has been a monumental effort by everyone at Sixways and I would like to go on record to publically thank all the volunteers that gave up their time on the Bank Holiday to help us.

“We advise our supporters to continue to monitor www.warriors.co.uk ahead of the game for the very latest.”

Officials at Worcester Warriors will make a further announcement on www.warriors.co.uk at 9am tomorrow ahead of the game, with advice for supporters making the journey to Sixways for the league fixture.
