Jones ready for fresh start at Sixways

New lock recruit Chris Jones believes signing for Worcester Warriors is the perfect move to boost his career and spoken of his desire to succeed at Sixways.

Sale stalwart Jones has spent over a decade of loyal service at the Sharks and admitted any move away from his Manchester roots would need to tick all the boxes for him in terms of rugby and his family.

However, he insists Worcester will be the perfect home and club for him to prosper over the next three years when he makes the switch this summer.

“It was always going to be sad to leave a club that I have been a part of for 11 years. I wanted to make sure I was going to a club with vision and drive to really succeed,” he said.

“Worcester Warriors ticks all the boxes for me. All the facilities are there and the last couple of years the recruitment has been very strong. I’m very hopeful now the team can step up and we can perform in the Premiership.

“This is a step that I need to take for my career. It is the right time for me to start again and get on top of my game. I’m excited by the support at the club, from the coaching staff and medical and fitness guys through to the fans.”

Jones has also revealed that a strong sense of community and a family feel to the club had been a key motivating factor in the move to Sixways.

“I have a young family and I have come down and looked at the club and the set-up,” he said. “I really got excited as there is a family theme to the club and a real sense of community; everyone pulls together and works together for each other.

“My priority is my family and on top of that the facilities at Sixways really are second to none. I was really impressed with the stadium and complex for training. It is something that I believe can really benefit my rugby career.”
