Richard Hill was delighted as Warriors became the first team to secure a semi-final spot in the RFU Championship play-offs with a 44-13 victory over Nottingham – and now urged his squad to switch their attention to securing top spot a home clash
Worcester ran in six tries on home soil to overcome Nottingham and ensure they will finish in the top two in Pool A and have a place in the last four.
Warriors now travel to London on Saturday (April 9) to face the only team that can overtake them and Head Coach Hill has vowed his team will not lose any focus as they prepare to face the Dragons.
He said: “The first stage was to win this game with Nottingham to get the semi-final confirmed – we have done that and ticked it off.
“The next objective is we would like to win against London Welsh and make sure we finish top of the group.
“We have got a bit of homework to do on London Welsh. I watched them last night against Bristol and they are very well organised and an abrasive team. On their own ground they will really be going for it.
“But over the last few games we have got better and there is no love lost with them so we will be going down there to try and do a job.”
Hill also revealed captain Chris Pennell was in with an outside chance of making his return at Old Deer Park after suffering a rib injury in the first encounter with Nottingham.
“I spoke to Chris (Pennell) today and he is optimistic for next weekend,” added Hill. “He will certainly be back for Bristol, but there is an outside chance for London Welsh, but that will be a late call.
“I was pleased with Tom Arscott at full back today, he was nice and decisive. He was very positive and I was pleased for him with how he played.”
