Summer signing Josh Drauniniu believes the huge competition for places from the wide boys at Warriors will push him to new heights and prove his Premiership pedigree.
Try machine Drauniniu has been one of the most deadly wingers in the RFU Championship this season at London Welsh.
The 25-year-old will now make a summer switch to Sixways and find himself up against the likes of Miles Benjamin, Marcel Garvey and Tom Arscott for a starting spot.
However, Drauniniu admits he is excited about the battle for a starting jersey and potentially another crack at the English top-flight during his time at Warriors.
“I’m looking forward to it – it’s an exciting move for me,” said Drauniniu. “I obviously can’t wait to play with the boys. I have watched and seen firsthand what Worcester are all about this season and look forward to being involved.
“There is a lot of competition for places on the wing, but that is a good thing for me. Playing against the likes of Miles, Marcel and Tom for a spot will push me to greater things and higher standards.
“I want to show what I can do and will have to raise my standards. I have got to show the coaches what I can do and show I am worth a place.”
Drauniniu also believes the style of rugby at Warriors will mean he is able to pick up where he leaves off at London Welsh.
“I have played with some great players at London Welsh, amazing talents like Simon Whatling, who is a former Warrior, and Nick Runciman and Gordon Ross. They have given me the confidence to get the ball and play,” he added.
“When I first came to London Welsh the coaching team of Phil Greening and Mike Friday sat me down and told me I had the licence to play. To play what you saw in front of you. Hearing those words got me going and we go for it – it has worked for us.
“Richard Hill and his coaches are also well known for having exciting players who are allowed to play and express themselves so I can’t wait to join Warriors and really show what I can do.”
