Arr aiming for dream result at Sixways

Scrum half star Jonny Arr admits it ‘would be massive’ to lead his home city back into the Aviva Premiership – but has warned there is still plenty of work to be done to secure the RFU Championship title.

Worcester face Cornish Pirates in front of a sell-out crowd at Sixways on Wednesday night (kick-off 7.45pm) in what Arr acknowledges will be one of the biggest games of his young career.

The Warriors Academy product – who has now made 77 appearances for the club he first joined as a mini/junior – was the star performer in the first leg and was awarded the man-of-the-match by Sky Sports.

But he is guarded against any complacency in the second leg as Warriors look to secure the biggest win of the season.

“It would be massive to help get Worcester back into the Premiership – it means everything to me to get the boys back up,” he said. “It's been a long old season and very challenging at times, but it will all come down to this one more game

“We went to Penzance hoping to get whatever we could out of the game, so we're very happy to have taken a nine-point lead back to Sixways.

“We always knew it was going to be tough and, based on our last performance down there, we knew Pirates would really come at us, so we're pretty happy with how the game is at the moment.

“We went in at half-time pretty happy with the way we had played, we'd managed to score two tries and we were looking to go back out and put the game beyond doubt. All credit to Pirates, though, they really came back, played some good attacking rugby and threw everything at us.

“We're definitely not getting too ahead of ourselves – we know how dangerous they can be. They came to Sixways earlier in the season and beat us, so we'll just take it as another game and go from there.

“Sixways will be sold out for the second leg and that's massively important for us – even down in Penzance, there were so many Worcester fans and they really give us a lift – so a sell-out at home will be a very special occasion.”
