Worcester Warriors have today confirmed that Charlie Little has been appointed as the club’s new Managing Director.
Little had been the General Manager at Warriors since June 2006 and has overseen the multi-million pound transformation of the complex and driven the club forward during his successful period at Sixways.
It has also been announced that Cecil Duckworth OBE will relinquish his position as Chief Executive but continue his long-standing and devoted commitment to the club as Executive Chairman.
Cecil Duckworth OBE said: “I have for some time been considering giving more responsibility to Charlie (Little) so as to relieve myself and reward him for the tremendous amount of work he has put in to the development here at Sixways over the last five years.
“It is, therefore, with great pleasure I have appointed Charlie to be Managing Director. This appointment has the full support of the Board and we wish him all the very best of luck.
“During the last five years we have seen a period of rapid expansion, but we have an equally ambitious programme that we hope to fulfil over the next five years,” he added.
“We have a new team in place and it was a fantastic result to win promotion at the first attempt, which was particularly difficult with the current format. Our ambition remains to win the Aviva Premiership, become a major force in Europe and continue to develop Sixways, firstly with a new North Stand and then develop the West Stand to increase our capacity to over 20,000.
“I would stress that my passion for Worcester Warriors and taking us forward remains as strong as ever. I would once again like to thank the fans for their unwavering support and I am confident that together the next five years are going to be equally exciting.”
Charlie Little described his appointment as Managing Director as a huge honour and privilege and looked forward to continuing the work and vision of everyone connected with Warriors.
“When I first came here five years ago, Cecil showed me his plans for Sixways,” he said. “At that early stage I knew it was going to be a very eventful place to work and it has proven to be just that.
“In the last five years we’ve witnessed the £8million creation of the Slick Systems Stand and office block as well as the development, working with Advantage West Midlands and Worcestershire County Council, of a Park and Ride, new road infrastructure and sustainable transport plan for Sixways.
“We now have plans to further enhance Sixways as a destination hub by bringing a health and racquet club and hotel to the complex, both of which will enhance our non-rugby activity as we look to grow into new markets.
“Worcester Warriors, as a club, has got so much going for it with a central location in the country and now back playing in the Aviva Premiership. Our potential development and future is unlimited and this promises to be a very exciting period for club.”
