Read all about it – New boys appear

Summer signings Ceri Jones and Shaun Perry recently took time out of training for the new Aviva Premiership season to encourage youngsters to keep on reading as part of a literacy project.

The Sixways star duo last week made a visit to Tenbury Primary School to take part in the school’s Literacy afternoon, to help inspire young people to read all the way into adulthood.

Special guests were invited into the school to read from one of their favourite books. Prop Jones, a summer recruit from Harlequins, read an extract from ‘The Gruffalo’ while scrum half Perry entertained children with a Bumblebee story.

After a poetry competition, the Warriors then took part in a Q&A session with the youngsters before joining in with a drumming group and even impressing the schoolchildren with their lineout skills…. and football tricks!

Tamara Taylor, Community Rugby Officer at Warriors, said: “Both Shaun and Ceri really engaged with the pupils and were so much fun that when their rugby careers have concluded maybe they could consider storytelling as an alternative!

“It was a very worthwhile afternoon for all involved and the Warriors Community team and players were delighted to support such an important scheme.”
