Head Coach Richard Hill has challenged his Worcester Warriors to raise the bar yet again when they face Plymouth Albion in pre-season on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 5.30pm).
Warriors travel to Devon and the testing Brickfields home of Graham Dawe’s Albion on the back of an encouraging 15-3 victory over RaboDirect Melbourne Rebels.
A number of players shone in the opening game of the pre-season schedule on home soil and Hill admits the benchmark has now been set.
However, Hill has now vowed to ring the changes for the Plymouth game and wants those being called up to stake their claim by producing an even better performance.
He said: “We have set the benchmark with the performance against Rebels – but people are fighting for places. There is huge competition and nobody can be safe of their place.
“I will probably go in with a change 15 at the weekend and the other players, who have watched the game with Rebels, will want to emulate that against Plymouth.
“The likes of Marcel Garvey, Miles Benjamin, Jonny Arr and Andy Goode will want to come out and perform as well as the players did in their position against Rebels.
“I expect the players not involved to go out and perform as well if not better. We have got some excellent players and good strength in depth,” he added.
“These players have trained hard for eight weeks and they want it, there is a real desire there and competition will bring the best out of them. People will rise to the occasion and play well.”
