Warriors in the thick of it at Acorns

Warriors staff, led by Neville Thomas, got right into the thick of it last week at Acorns Children’s Hospice. The Team, made up of staff from across the Club, all gave a day out of their working week to clear a large area of the hospice garden to make space for a vegetable plot. They also gave the garden furniture a make-over by staining all the benches.

Acorns Children's Hospice is the Warriors official charity partner and will be working together to not only raise vital funds to support life limited children and their families but to also give valuable time to this amazing local cause.

Neville said: “We all had such a great time at Acorns, it is a real pleasure to be able to give something back to the community. The work that the staff and volunteers do at Acorns is commendable”.

Carol Hart, Warriors Community Foundation Manager, said: “Volunteering time to help out in the community is important to us at Worcester Warriors.  It not only makes a massive difference to local causes, it is good for staff morale, motivation and wellbeing.

“Volunteering also gives staff an opportunity to develop new skills. Acorns is an amazing charity and we are delighted to be working with them to improve the lives of children with life-limiting illnesses.”

Katreena Barnes, Volunteers Manager at Acorns, commented: “We depend on the community to support us year on year. Worcester Warriors have been a tremendous supporter of us for a long time and I’d like to thank them on behalf of everyone at Acorns.

“The garden is looking great after their visit and I’m sure children, families, staff and visitors will all enjoy the improved environment.”
