Boss targets Europe to build confidence

Richard Hill looked to the club’s forthcoming European campaign to help the Warriors build a winning mentality after a late try denied Worcester for a second successive week.

London Wasps snatched a win at Sixways last Friday and the Warriors again suffered late pain at Falcons as Newcastle scored a try three minutes from time to snatch a draw.

Worcester now turn their attention to the Amlin Challenge Cup opener with French giants Stade Francais on Thursday on home soil (kick-off 7.45pm).

And Hill believes the switch of focus away from the Aviva Premiership can benefit his team as they look to build fresh momentum.

He said: “These next two games in Europe we have got to get two good wins to regain that confidence and winning mentality.

“There are a lot of things we need to get right in Europe. We will pick a strong team against Stade Francais, most of those that played against Newcastle will play again and we will give an opportunity to a few backs and forwards.

“They will get a chance to come in and show what they can do on the back of LV= Cup performances.

“We will be taking it very seriously and want to get off to a good start and a win against Stade Francais.

“We need to use these two games so that we improve and when we come to play Bath in the league at the end of the month we are better than we were against Newcastle.”
