Warriors closing on back row recruit

Head Coach Richard Hill has revealed he is close to concluding a deal with a new signing at Worcester Warriors – but is keeping the identity of his new back row under wraps.

Warriors will be without senior men Kai Horstmann, Adam Balding and broken arm victim Neil Best through injury for this weekend’s game with Exeter Chiefs so Hill has moved into the market.

The Sixways boss now hopes to finalise a contract with a new player before the home league sell out clash with Leicester Tigers in late December.

“Yes, we need to bring someone in and we have just about done a deal with a player, who is not from Great Britain,” admitted Hill.

“We can’t say too much yet as we need to make sure the visa application goes ahead. Once we know what we can announce it.

“He will significantly bolster our back row. He will have to go straight in and we plan to see him before Christmas and for the game with Leicester Tigers.

“It will be a quick learning curve for him, but he is a big, very physical man, so we’ll probably need him against the Tigers.

“He should make a significant impact,” added Hill. “The idea is to sign him until the end of the year and he’d like to stay here the following year too. We will see how we both get on.”
