Boss Richard Hill heaped praise on the travelling supporters who made the trip to London Wasps in huge numbers on New Year’s Day to cheer the Warriors to a huge Aviva Premiership victory.
Fans shook off any post New Year celebration hangovers to make the trip south and back the Warriors in persistent rain and wind in Wycombe.
But despite the wet weather the cheers from the stands never let up and Hill was keen to stress how pleased he was to reward those that made the trip and now make amends on home soil.
“I was absolutely delighted with the support we got,” he added. “I have to thank them for that backing.
“We let the supporters down a little bit against Leicester Tigers, they are a good team but we didn’t perform as we should have done.
“The support was fantastic today and we need to now go and repay them all by putting on a good display against Gloucester.
“The result gives us a huge boost,” added Hill. “The players have put huge effort in and there is massive pressure on the club to remain in the Aviva Premiership.
“It’s a big club. We know with the structure, support, stadium and support we have got, Worcester could be one of the biggest clubs in the country. We can attract big crowds and are not a Championship team.
“There is a lot of pressure on the players and the management to make sure we stay in the Aviva Premiership – so that win there is absolutely huge.
“We can start to look upwards as opposed to over our shoulder, which could have been the case had we lost today.”
