Perry looking forward to a big derby day

Scrum half Shaun Perry is relishing a ‘huge’ derby day clash with Gloucester Rugby and believes the Warriors can now start looking up the Aviva Premiership table after the success over London Wasps.

Perry was a second half replacement at Adams Park and played a vital role as Warriors ground out a hard-fought 6-0 league success.

“It was a massive win and if you look at the league we need all the points we can get,” he said.

“We have made a big emphasis as a squad not to look down but to look up and hopefully we can do that now with that four points at Wasps.

“It was a hard-fought game and the weather didn’t help. The pitch was amazing, but when it is raining really heavy it becomes a massive set piece game and you are not going to get that much entertaining rugby. We ground out a 6-0 win – I would have taken 3-0.

“We now have Saturday and a local derby between Worcester and Gloucester is always huge – there is some good history between the two clubs,” he added.

“We went down to Kingsholm on the second game of the season and it wasn’t our best performance.

“We didn’t turn up that day, now hopefully we can now get another win and climb up that league.”

Perry also paid tribute to the fans that travelled to Wycombe and added: “We had a few hundred at Adams Park cheering us on and the last two or three minutes that is what you need.

“You need to cheer that Warriors chant and it does get the boys going and thankfully we sealed the win for them.”
