Andress looks ahead to Sixways switch

New signing John Andress admits he is ‘absolutely stoked’ to be joining such an ambitious club as Worcester Warriors this summer.

Tighthead prop Andress will make the switch from Sandy Park to Sixways after agreeing a move from Exeter Chiefs at the end of this season.

The 28-year-old acknowledged leaving the Chiefs, where he has enjoyed two playing spells, was a tough decision.

However, he was looking forward to the challenges ahead at Warriors and the chance to work with Richard Hill and his coaching team.

Andress said: “Leaving Exeter has been a really tough decision for me. I’ve had to speak to a lot of people close to me, including my wife, members of my family and other advisors within the rugby world about the best way forward. That said, I am absolutely stoked to be going to a club of Worcester’s quality.

“Worcester are an ambitious club, one with all the right foundations and they are looking to go places. They have a great coaching set-up, they are looking to move forward and they have terrific support.

“I always wanted to stay in the Aviva Premiership because as far as I am concerned, being a front five forward in this league is the toughest role you can have in world rugby. It’s week in, week out warfare and the set-piece is certainly the toughest.

“I spoke to Richard Hill and he told me about the brand of rugby the club were looking to play and where they were looking to go in the future. The facilities at Sixways are fantastic and I’m looking forward to working with Richard and Phil Davies.”
