Boss wants to keep points momentum

Richard Hill was pleased to pick up another point on the road at Sale Sharks as the Warriors kicked-off what he admits is a difficult period of away games.

Worcester were narrowly edged out 15-12 at Edgeley Park, but Hill was pleased by the effort shown by his squad to come away with a point for their efforts.

“That is the best team Sale have put out all season and to come here and get a point is an outstanding achievement,” said Hill.

“Where we are at Worcester, as a club, is that we can go to places like this and to Newcastle, Wasps and Exeter and pick up points on the road. That is crucial to keep the momentum going.

“You can’t expect to go and beat everyone away from home all of a sudden, but we have beaten Wasps away and followed that up by defeating Gloucester at home and picking up a point tonight

“We knew this period of four games was going to be tough with three away from home,” he added.

“This is the first away game and to get something from it is a big boost. We have a difficult game at Quins next week and we will try and get something there too.

“We know towards the end we have got four games where three are at home, that is where we are strong and where we will capitalise. We will have a good end to the season if we continue to pick up points on the road.

“In the huddle after the game the talk was that that is the kind of effort we have got to put in.

“The players were disappointed not to get the win and not to get two points, but they are all now looking forward to next week and putting that sort of effort in again.”
