Hill remains hopeful over fly half duo

Head Coach Richard Hill remains hopeful that one of either Andy Goode or Joe Carlisle will be able to feature against top of the table Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday (kick-off 5.30pm).

Goode limped off at half-time in the narrow defeat to Sale Sharks last Friday while Carlisle has been ruled out in recent weeks by a hip injury.

However, Hill is optimistic that one of his fly halves can join Danny Gray in battling for the No.10 jersey in London.

“We have one or two slight concerns with Andy Goode, but it is not as serious as we first thought,” said Hill.

“I gather he has a tear in the sheath in the hamstring and not the actual muscle itself, it has bled which is why he has bruising. But he is running and kicking and he could potentially be available for the weekend.

“Joe Carlisle has been out with a hip strain, but he is also training this week and looks reasonably okay. I would like to think that one of those two will be fit for the weekend.

“When you see such a good performance from a team like we did on Friday night there is not much to change,” he added.

“Defensively every single player, plus the replacements that came on, did well so there won’t be too many changes.

“We might shuffle around a few in the 23, but I can’t see the squad changing too much.
