The latest phase in the Sixways revolution is underway with the diggers, cranes and workmen now on site to help create a brand new David Lloyd Leisure Club on the multi-purpose complex.
The development of a new racquets, health and leisure club on land between the East Stand and Pershore Lane has started after contracts were exchanged in the middle of February between all parties.
Offering a new state-of-the-art leisure facility to thousands across the region, the new David Lloyd Leisure Club will boast eight Tennis Courts, Outdoor Pool, Indoor Pool, Gymnasium and Studios, Sauna, Spa and Steam Room, Bar and Lounge and two Children’s Play Areas.
Charlie Little, Managing Director at Warriors, said: “We are delighted that, after over six years of planning and hard work, we are now in a position where the land is being developed to offer a fantastic new facility to the people of Worcester and the wider region.
“The site is now owned by Merchant Place Developments and they have contracted Pellikaan Construction to build them a new David Lloyd Leisure Club in keeping with recent successes at both Exeter and Farnham.
“Since Pellikaan Construction has been on site there has been a real level of anticipation and excitement for every visitor to Sixways. The development shows our complex is once again progressing as we strive to offer the very best facilities and ensure Sixways is a leading destination in the Midlands for top class sport, conferencing and leisure.
“We currently anticipate that building work will be complete by the end of the year and the change is already very noticeable. From the point of view of Worcester Warriors, we’re already working closely and successfully with the David Lloyd Leisure Group to integrate ourselves and make sure we can offer benefits to both their members and our supporters.
