Warriors Junior Academy defeat England

Warriors Junior Academy claimed an impressive scalp on Sunday as they defeated England Under-16 by four tries to two.

Simon Lane, Head Coach for the Warriors team, said: “The boys showed good endeavour. The score at half time was 7-7, after a fiery start from England, but the Academy then settled down well into their playing patterns.

“The scrum back five for the Academy (Louis Chaudron, Hugh Taylor, Ryan Hatch, Sam Smith, George Jeavons and Andy Boyce) must all receive credit, as they dominated the breakdown in both attack and defence. I felt that was the major difference between the two sides.

“We scored four good tries, two by Colin Dickson, his first being the culmination of multi phases and a strong finish by the winger. We were very pleased with the result and the way that the group came together.

“Each year we play England at this age group, and we would normally field a full U17 side, but this year we had a greater number of U16, which bodes well for next year’s encounter.”
