Matt Hampson Foundation Charity Matches

A number of past greats and Warriors Staff – will be in action for two charity matches at Sixways Stadium Wednesday, May 9 in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation. The Worcester Warriors staff team in a charity game against West Midlands Teachers (kick-off 6.30pm) and Old Worcester v Old Leicester also at Sixways Stadium (kick-off 8.30pm).

The games are taking place at the home of Worcester Warriors in aid of Matt Hampson, a young Leicester and England U21 player who has been left paralyzed as the result of a training ground scrum accident, Peace Croft Trust and Warriors Community Foundation.

The two games will also feature comebacks from past Sixways legends as well as appearances from staff from the 1st XV conditioning department, academy, community and many more areas of the club's backroom staff.

Wednesday 9th May matches as follows:

  • Warriors Staff Vs West Midlands Teachers – Kick-off 6.30pm
  • Old Worcester Vs Old Leicester – Kick-off 8.00pm

“We are urging as many people as possible to come down and show their support for both teams,” said Steve Joslin, Warriors Community Rugby Manager.

“The tickets are only £5 but everybody who turns up is making a difference. Matt has suffered every rugby player's worst nightmare being paralyzed from the neck down and unable to breathe unaided.

“But he has shown amazing character throughout and he is an incredible inspiration. It is a very worthwhile cause and one that should be supported by every rugby player and fan.

Fans are advised that entry to the game, that will officiated by Aviva Premiership referee Chris White, is £5 for adults and children. Children under three-years-old go free. Car parking is also available in advance at £2.00 per car.

Hospitality for the match is available at £15pp which inlcudes match ticket and a one course meal in the Pitch View Suite.
