Centre Tu’ipulotu to leave the Warriors

Worcester Warriors have confirmed that centre Sione Tu’ipulotu is to leave the Aviva Premiership club.

Former Tonga international Tu’ipulotu joined Warriors from Plymouth Albion in the summer of 2011.

The 35-year-old utility back, who has featured in two World Cup Finals for Tonga, in 1999 and 2007, has made a total of three senior appearances for the club in the LV= Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup.

Tu’ipulotu was loaned out to former club Plymouth in December and has now been released from his contract to explore future playing opportunities.

Head Coach Richard Hill thanked Tu’ipulotu, who has also made several appearances for Worcester Cavaliers, for his effort during his season long stay at Sixways.

He said: “The strong pairing of Dale Rasmussen and Alex Grove has meant that Sione has seen his opportunities limited this season. However, he has been a popular member of the squad and worked hard in training to help the team prepare throughout the Aviva Premiership season.

“Sione also had the chance to go back and play for Plymouth in the second half of the season and make an impact as they ensured Championship status. Everyone at the Warriors now wishes Sione all the very best for the future.”
