Boss looks for right fit for forwards

Boss Richard Hill admitted the hunt for a new Forwards Coach at Warriors was his top priority after the final game of the season and defeat to Northampton Saints.

Phil Davies left the club after the game at Franklin’s Gardens to take up a new post at Cardiff Blues.

Hill has now vowed to scour the rugby world for the right man to pick up the mantle and transform the pack at Sixways.

“I have now got to spend a few weeks finding the new man – I won’t be taking any break yet,” said Hill.

“There are a lot of people out there and coaches who want a job, but it is about getting the right man and right blend to come into this group. I have a lot of people to see over the next few weeks.

“There is some work to be done with the forwards now,” he added. “We have some more personnel coming in, but all season our scrum has struggled a little bit without Tevita (Taumoepeau) there.

“We haven’t been the same without him and it was disappointing for the last 20 minutes of the game with Northampton that I don’t think we won a set piece ball.

“That is why we fell apart, you can’t play like that. There is a fair bit of work to be done and we hope that one or two additions will help that.”
