Corin Palmer joins as Rugby Operations Director

Worcester Warriors are pleased to announce the new appointment of Corin Palmer as Rugby Operations Director at Sixways. Palmer will join Warriors from his role as Head of Academies and Development at Premiership Rugby.

Palmer, a former Royal Marines officer, played rugby for Richmond until 1999 before taking on the role of Academy Director at London Irish between 2001 and 2006. He then successfully worked as General Manager at Bristol Rugby before his move to Premiership Rugby in 2009.

Palmer will join the exciting new-look backroom team at Sixways and work closely with Head Coach Richard Hill.

His remit will include performance management, Academy and player development, recruitment, financial management, administration, culture, discipline and player welfare.

Charlie Little, Managing Director at Warriors, said: “I’m delighted the club has implemented this key structural change and have made such a fantastic appointment in Corin. This is as important as any coaching appointment we have made as we look to move forward as a club.

“This move will allow Richard Hill so concentrate on coaching and preparation for the matches and to integrate the coaching strategy across all aspects, in terms of the forwards, backs, defence and attack. It will allow him to be 100 per cent focussed on coaching.

“In this appointment we have, without doubt, secured one of the best rugby administrators and brains in the country. Corin was highly sought after by a number of different organisations and clubs at the very top of our game. However, the reason he has chosen Warriors is the structure, potential, support from the top down and a vision and ambition to take our club forward.

“We’ve identified a number of areas that Richard can be freed up from and Corin will bring his skills from Premiership Rugby, plus his previous roles at London Irish and Bristol Rugby, to enhance and look after these aspects.”
