Worcester Warriors have today confirmed the club’s 2012/13 Aviva Premiership fixture list that will kick-off on home soil against Bath Rugby on Saturday, September 1 (kick-off 3pm).
The majority of home league games will once again kick off at the traditional time of Saturday afternoon this season.
The special and unique atmosphere under the floodlights at Sixways is also recognized with five currently scheduled games. London Irish, Sale, Saracens and London Wasps will all play Friday night games and the home Christmas fixture with London Welsh will also now take place on Friday, December 21.
Charlie Little, Managing Director at Warriors, said: “There are lots of factors we must take into consideration when finalising our fixtures but, as in previous years, we have committed this year to playing most of our games on Saturday afternoon. We also plan to play our LV= Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup games on Saturdays, unless broadcasting partners deem otherwise.
“We are fortunate that we are able to play on both Friday evenings and Saturday at Sixways and have a growing audience for both days. Matches under the floodlights here are always special occasions and the players and crowd really respond to that.
“Last season we played five league games on Friday nights and the Warriors won four of them. Having a successful record in front of good crowds and as part of a great spectacle is an obvious consideration and it gives those people who have family or other sporting commitments on a Saturday the chance to watch us.
“We have also arranged our Christmas game with London Welsh to take place on Friday, December 21. It is a busy time of year for families and shoppers, particularly over that last weekend, so this way we hope as many of our fans can come join us over the festive period and really kick-off the Christmas festivities with the Warriors at Sixways. We have committed early to this date so that supporters can plan ahead.
“The fixture list is now really taking shape and we expect to announce the Amlin Challenge Cup and LV= Cup fixtures soon so our supporters can also put them in their diaries are really get behind the Warriors in 2012/13.”
