Fighting fit for the new season at Sixways

The players at Warriors are determined to be fighting fit for the new Aviva Premiership season – after tackling judo sessions in pre-season to make sure they are in peak condition!

The stars from Sixways have been put through their paces by members of the GB Judo team, based out of Bath and led by Josh Hill, at the home of Trojan Free Fighters in Worcester – based on Shrub Hill Industrial Estate – over the last few weeks of preparations for the new campaign.

Scott Pearson, Strength & Conditioning Coach at Warriors, said: “The players have been really enjoying the rugby specific judo sessions. A lot of the sessions feature close quarters contact work and it helps improve the ability to move bodies away.

“The players also use match balls in many of the exercises to aid ball retention and contact work, as well as it having a high fitness element.

“The sessions last between 45 minutes and an hour and it is hard work, but they can see there is a point to what we are doing and it also helps breaks up the usual training routine and gives them a new stimulus at this stage of pre-season.”

Trojan Free Fighters has training venues at Cheltenham and Worcester and welcomes students of all levels to all its classes; from total beginners and experienced martial artists to professional fighters. Class based workouts are led by highly professional qualified coaches for each discipline, so you can be sure that you are getting the best technical instructions along with a Fun, Fit and Functional session.
