Centre Short suffers wrist injury at 7s Series

Centre Andy Short will miss the start of the new season after suffering a wrist injury in the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s Series at Kingsholm on Thursday evening.

Former England Under-20 international Short was taken to hospital after injuring his wrist in the second game of the night against hosts Gloucester.

The club can this morning confirm that Short has suffered a fracture to his right wrist and will undergo surgery in Gloucester today (Friday).

Head Coach Richard Hill said: “We are all hugely disappointed for Andy after he had got himself fully fit for the new season after suffering injury at the latter stages of last season while on loan at Cornish Pirates.

“I know Andy was keen to make a big impression in the team this season with real competition for places in the back line. We now wish him a speedy and successful recovery under the guidance of the medical and rehabilitation backroom team at Sixways.”

Worcester Warriors would like to thank supporters for the kind messages of support that have already come into the club for Andy.
