Worcester Warriors will face a televised home clash with French giants Perpignan at Sixways in December after the fixtures for this season’s Amlin Challenge Cup were today announced by the ERC.
Richard Hill’s men are paired in Pool 2 of the competition this season alongside USA Perpignan, Bizkaia Gernika RT and VEA Femi-CZ Rovigo.
Warriors welcome Perpignan to Sixways Stadium for a highly-anticipated clash on Thursday, December 6 (kick-off 7.45pm) with the game already selected to be televised by Sky Sports and Eurosport France.
Worcester make the return trip to the South of France the following weekend as they play at the Stade Aime Giral in Perpignan on Saturday, December 15 (kick-off 9pm local time) in a match that will also be televised by French television.
Warriors kick-off their quest for European glory this season on Saturday, October 13 with a trip to Northern Spain to face Bizkaia Gernika RT at the Urbieta Rugby Sport Center in Guernica (kick-off 4pm local time).
The first home game of the competition at Sixways follows a week later as the Warriors entertain Italian outfit VEA Femi-CZ Rovigo on Saturday, October 20 (kick-off 3pm).
Worcester conclude the competition with a trip to Rovigo and the Stadio Mario Battaglini in early January before finishing on home soil against Bizkaia Gernika RT. The dates for Rounds Five and Six will only be announced after the completion of Round Four in December.
Hill said: “The opening game against Bizkaia Gernika RT will be somewhat of a trip into the unknown so we need to make sure we hit the ground running in Europe this season when we make the journey to Spain.
“Our games with Perpignan will both by special occasions and we are delighted that the television cameras will also be there to capture the moment in December.
“The fixture with Stade Francais under the floodlights last season was certainly a memorable one for players, coaches and supporters alike and I’m sure there will be much excitement about this season’s game with Perpignan at Sixways.”
