Try hero Lemi praises backroom staff

Winger David Lemi has paid tribute to the new-look backroom staff following the club’s first win of the season on Friday night over London Irish.

Nigel Redman, Mathieu Rourre and Phil Vickery joined Warriors during the summer and, according to Lemi, their influence is starting to show on the field.

“We’re now confident we can score tries. Our attack has improved massively over the last couple of months and everything is starting to click,” he said.

“The coaches are starting to implement a different style of play and it’s beginning to pay-off. We look dangerous going forward.”

Warriors have scored eight tries in their last two matches but Lemi also admitted he was pleased with Warriors defensive record at Sixways.

He continued: “We’ve only conceded two tries at Sixways this season and that is very positive after three games.

“We’re hard to break down, especially at home, and we’ve been defensively strong. I think we’re starting to get a good balance between our attacking play and defensive play.”

Warriors travel to Lemi’s former club London Wasps on Sunday and the Samoan believes his new side are heading in the right direction.

He added: “We’re still confident that we can achieve what we set out to at the start of the season and the victory over London Irish will give us a huge confidence boost and allow us to push-on.

“It was massive for me to get my first home try on Friday night but, more importantly, it helped the team pick-up the bonus point, which is brilliant. We need to take the positives from that game and move forward.”
