Head Coach Richard Hill is looking for a reaction from his team in the LV= Cup after Warriors went down to a disappointing 33-9 defeat to Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park on Saturday.
Warriors battled against strong headwinds and a impressive Exeter sides as an early score from Gonzalo Camacho and late double strike from Haydn Thomas and Chris Budgen secured victory for the Devon club.
Hill said his team must react to the defeat when they face Llanelli Scarlets in the LV= Cup at Sixways next weekend.
He said: “Hopefully we’ll see a big improvement next weekend and I’ll be looking for a response from the players.
“I’m going to put a strong side out. One or two of these players will have a break but not too many. We will be very strong and I’ll give games to players who want to fight for a first-team place.”
Hill admitted he was disappointed with the manner of today’s loss but conceded that Exeter were too strong on the day
He continued: “We’re disappointed – we can’t hide from that. We were hoping to come down here and compete and we’d prepared thoroughly and done a lot of work.
“But they had more intensity than we did today and we were too inaccurate across the board.
“Exeter are a tough team at home. They’ve got a very good record at Sandy Park and they’ve now won four out of four in the league here this season.
“They beat some of the top sides in the league on their own ground so it’s a hard place to come. But we were hoping to do better than that today.”
According to Hill, there are positives to take from the match despite the loss, one of which was his side’s improvement in the line-out.
He added: “Our line-out did function well today. I was very pleased with Ed Shervington and I was pleased with Aleki Lutui when he came on. That is one positive we will take from this match.”
