De Carpentier looking forward to Warriors debut

Exciting back row prospect Richard de Carpentier has spoken of his delight at earning his first Warriors contract ahead of his debut for the club in the LV= Cup tomorrow.

The 21-year-old was given a full-time contract at Sixways after impressing during a trial period in October and said he is looking forward to getting his Warriors career underway against Scarlets.

He said: “I’m very happy to sort my future out and sign a deal at Warriors. It was a hard month and it was all about getting my head down and working hard so I’m happy to get the reward at the end.

“My first game at Sixways for the first-team will be special. I can’t wait to get out there and get started in front of the fans. This week couldn’t go quickly enough for me.”

De Carpentier made his first appearance at Sixways against Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva A League last month and impressed with a stand-out performance.

He continued: “I’ve had one game in the Aviva A League to show what I could do in a match situation.

“Most of the hard work has come on the training field where I’ve been trying to show the right attitude and show the coaches what I am capable of.”

De Carpentier will line-up against Scarlets in the back row alongside Jake Abbott and Blair Cowan, and the flanker admitted he has settled in well at Sixways.

He added: “I’ve felt like I have fitted in quickly and the boys have been great in showing me around and settling me in.

“I’ve also settled into the area and now have a flat with my girlfriend. It’s great that we can put roots down here now and I can look to be a success at Warriors.

“Running out in front of the crowd tomorrow will be something that stays with me forever. A win over Scarlets would be the perfect end to the perfect week.”
