Flanker Matt Kvesic celebrated his 50th Warriors appearance in style as he helped his side to a 22-21 victory and won the man-of-the-match award.
Kvesic was the star of the show at Sixways and admitted he was delighted to get the win which keeps Warriors’ hopes of reaching the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals well and truly alive.
He said: “The boys dug in tonight and we’re really pleased to get the win. We knew they’d be a tough side but the lads played well for the full 80 minutes. Perpignan stayed close to us but we got the win and that’s the most important thing.
“The weather was obviously frustrating for both sides as we both like to play with ball in hand but we adapted well and everyone put in a massive shift.”
Andy Goode was in scoring form for the hosts as he racked-up all of Worcester’s points, adding a try and conversion to his five penalties.
And Kvesic was quick to pay tribute to the former England fly-half. He continued: “Goodey brought his kicking boots tonight and he played really well.
“He put us in the right areas and made sure we didn’t play in our half too much, which was key. We played as far up the pitch as we could and tried to put them under pressure in their own 22. Credit to Andy – he kicked the points and got a try as well.”
Warriors travel to France next Saturday to face Perpignan on their own patch and Kvesic admits that Warriors must produce another strong performance if they are to remain in the driving seat in Pool 2 of the competition.
He added: “It will be massively different in France next weekend but we will work hard leading up to it and focus on our own game.
“We’ve been playing well and we’ve strung a few good performances together so we’ll be confident of getting something out there.”
