Head Coach Richard Hill has revealed he is set to freshen up his starting line-up as Warriors return to Amlin Challenge Cup competition this weekend in Italy.
Warriors lead Pool 2 on points difference over Perpignan and know only maximum points against Femi-CZ VEA Rovigo at Stadio Mario Battaglini on Saturday afternoon will be good enough (kick-off 3pm local time).
Hill has vowed his team will be going all out for a five-point haul in Northern Italy, but will be making changes to give others the chance to impress in European competition.
He said: “There will be changes as the bulk of that team has played six consecutive games.
“They have played well and so a few will be given a week’s holiday and will then come back for extra training.
“It will give an opportunity to those that have been sat on the sidelines and are desperate to have a go. There are some very good players in there.
“It will be their turn over the next two or three weeks and we can rest up our first team for the next batch of league games that starts with Bath away.”
Hill added that Worcester’s bid for a top six finish in the Aviva Premiership was also not yet over.
“It’s going to be tough. The last two games, although we picked up a losing bonus point against Sale and Leicester, we were looking to win both those to really catapult us into the top six. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility, but it will be a tough ask now.
“The crowd on Friday night were very appreciative and you could see that at the end of the game when they were cheering, they appreciate the effort that went in.
“The players are disappointed and they feel hard done by, but we didn’t close the game out. It’s no one else’s fault but our own. Hopefully it will make us angry and we will be better for it.”
