Warriors Assistant Head Coach Nigel Redman admits he is pleased to see Matt Mullan and Matt Kvesic selected for the England Saxons squad once again.
The duo were called-up by England Head Coach Stuart Lancaster yesterday ahead of the side’s clash with O2 Ireland Wolfhounds later this month.
They form part of a 32-man squad and, according to Redman, the two are important players for club and country.
He said: “I am delighted to see them both in the England Saxons squad and it’s a reward for their performances this season.
“They’ve both come through the academy system at Warriors and have a lot of passion for the club. With nine Premiership games remaining and England’s tour of Argentina this summer, it could be a busy year for them.”
Mullan came on as a second-half replacement against Leicester last weekend in what was his first appearance since sustaining an injury at the beginning of November. But it was his England teammate who stood out according to Redman.
“I thought Kvesic was the man-of-the-match against Leicester Tigers last Friday. His performance was absolutely wonderful,” said Redman.
“I saw him play in the Junior World Championship a couple of years ago and he was one of the best players in the world at his age so hopefully this selection will be another stepping stone.
Richard Hill’s right-hand man has also tipped Semisi Taulava to get a Saxons call-up in the future, after the number eight became eligible to represent England last month.
He added: “From a Worcester point of view, he has been absolutely terrific on and off the field. He has worked hard on his physical condition and he has got a desire to improve.
“There’s a few number eights who are putting pressure on the current England Saxons players for a place in the squad and Semisi is one of those. But it starts in a Warriors shirt and he must continue to play well for people to take notice.”
