Walker looking to build on Euro try double

Nikki Walker is aiming to help his side to another victory against Bizkaia Gernika RT on Saturday after scoring his first tries for the club last weekend.

The former Ospreys man helped himself to a brace against Femi-CZ VEA Rovigo as Warriors swept to an 80-17 victory in Northern Italy.

And with Warriors set to play what could be their final European game of the season, Walker is predicting another high-scoring encounter.

He said: “We’ll go out looking to get another five points and score a lot of tries to put on a bit of a show for the crowd.

“We’re looking forward to it and we’ll be hoping to take our performance to the next level. Gernika have done exceptionally well in Europe this season and the match will be an opportunity for us to develop our game and put some things in place for the rest of the season.

“I’ve always managed to score regularly wherever I’ve been so now I’ve got my first two, I will hopefully push on and get a few more.”

Fellow wing Max Stelling also scored a double in last weekend’s match and he has again been named on the bench to face Gernika.

The youngster, who celebrated his nineteenth birthday on Monday, has now scored five tries in two appearances for Warriors and admits he is delighted to get another opportunity against Gernika.

He added: “It will be great to be involved again on Saturday. Things have gone well in my first two appearances and I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I’ve been fortunate to come on in both matches when players have been a bit tired and it’s worked out nicely for me with the tries.”
