Boss Richard Hill insisted his Warriors were looking forward to a derby day clash with Gloucester Rugby – and believes his team are not getting the rewards for the way they are playing.
Warriors lost out 27-18 to Northampton Saints courtesy of two late power-packed tries after fly halves Andy Goode and Stephen Myler had exchanged kicks for the opening hour.
However, Hill insisted the self-belief and spirit at Sixways was still strong and the players were relishing an away trip to Kingsholm to put matters right.
“The players in the huddle afterwards are looking forward to next Friday night already” he said.
“We don’t feel we are getting the rewards for the way we are playing. We are playing some great stuff and the players will remain galvanised and we will get our rewards at some point.
“There is huge self-belief in the squad and it is an exciting time for Worcester because we are breaking the mould of the playing style.
“We will continue to play that kind of rugby and it will click. We have got seven more games and we have got to make sure next Friday is the start.
“James Percival spoke in the huddle at the end and said he enjoys playing that type of rugby, Matt Mullan spoke very well too.
“They all said that we have just got to preserve with this and there is no better place to kick-start it than away at Gloucester and Friday night at Kingsholm.”
“I can understand the frustration from fans with results,” he added. “But if this club wants to move on and become a top six team it has got to change the way it plays.
“You have to go through a teething process and it won’t come easy. It is a brutal league and there are some very good teams in it.
“You cannot think you can just beat a quality side like Northampton, these teams are very good and it takes a hell of a lot to beat them.
“I hope the fans will go away disappointed with the result but look back and say we played some outstanding rugby and we haven’t seen a Worcester team produce that kind of 15-man rugby. I am encouraged by the way we are trying to play.”
