Bright young star Howard signs contract

England Under-20 international Ben Howard has signed a new contract at Warriors to continue his eye-catching development at Sixways.

Academy ace Howard has burst onto the first team scene this season and has scored five tries in just seven senior games for the club.

The 20-year-old, who can play at full back or wing, made his Aviva Premiership debut against Leicester Tigers at Welford Road at the start of September.

Bradford-born Howard, who is 6ft 5in tall and weighs 14st 13lb, has since gone on to shine in the Amlin Challenge Cup and LV= Cup, scoring two tries on his first senior start against Bizkaia Gernika RT and then following that up with a superb solo effort against the Spanish side at Sixways.

The former Warwick School student, who has represented Warwickshire at Under-16 and Under-18 level, is hoping to feature for England Under-20s against France Under-20s at Sixways this Saturday afternoon.

Head Coach Richard Hill said: “Ben has been a real star find for us this year. He has made an impression every time he has played for the Warriors.

“He very rarely makes a mistake for someone still so young and he will produce something spectacular every game.

“Ben has a good skill set and is very safe under the high ball. Whether he is playing at wing or full back, he has genuine pace and has great counter attacking potential.

“He is a tall young man and his aim over the coming years will be develop his frame and become very physically strong. He has huge potential to be a very good player for us.

“His performances for our first team have been noted by the England Under-20 coaches and we now wish him the very best of luck for the remainder of the RBS 6 Nations campaign with England.”
