Bonus-point hero Arr hails fan power

Bonus-point hero Jonny Arr paid tribute to Warriors’ Friday night crowd as his side stormed to their fifth victory of the season underneath the Sixways floodlights.

Over nine thousands fans were at the stadium as Warriors racked-up four tries and a bonus-point victory.

Arr said: “It was a must win game at fortress Sixways on a Friday night and the fans made it special. It’s one of those nights where you love being a professional rugby player.

“I speak for everyone when I say we love playing here on a Friday night. The atmosphere is always special and hopefully the fans like coming to watch when the floodlights are beaming.”

The scrum-half forced his way over the whitewash for Warriors’ fourth try as Richard Hill’s men conjured up one of their best attacking displays of the season.

And Arr admitted he was delighted to get the five points. He continued: “It’s massive to get the bonus-point victory.

“It shows how far we’ve come in terms of our attacking game. We can score tries from anywhere and we’re not relying on penalties to win us games. So that is brilliant.

“I saw players on the outside but I just stuck my head down and went for it. It doesn’t happen often so I’ll enjoy it while it’s still fresh.”

Warriors enjoyed a fantastic start to the game as Chris Pennell and David Lemi scored first-half tries. But the hosts surrendered a 15-6 half-time lead as Wasps went ahead in the second period.

The home side regrouped, went over for a third try and went on to complete a memorable night at Sixways.

“We’ve all been striving to get a good start and get ahead. We managed to do that but we didn’t build on it in the opening stages of the second-half,” added Arr.

“It was the worst opening to a second-half we’ve had all season. But credit to the boys because, even when we had 14 men, we kept battling and always believed we could get another try or two to win the game.

“And this result will spur us on to get a few more wins and push up that table.”
