Perry to make comeback in Cavaliers clash

Scrum half Shaun Perry will make his comeback as Worcester Cavaliers face The Army in a friendly charity fixture at Sixways tonight (kick-off 7pm).

Former England international Perry has been ruled out of action since the Aviva Premiership fixture with Northampton Saints in September, but will now make his return as Worcester name a team that contains a mix of experience and youth.

Richard De Carpentier will captain the team in the back row and is joined by the likes of Sam Betty, Craig Gillies and Ceri Jones in the pack.

Perry and Danny Gray, fresh from his second half heroics against London Wasps, will combine at half back while Joe Carlisle and Josh Matavesi will join forces in midfield.

Mark Hewitt, Academy Manager at Warriors, said: “We’re excited about the game and the selection we have been able to make to face what is always a strong test against The Army.

“We have a number of young players involved or on the replacements bench who will really benefit from having the senior team members around them.

“Max Stelling will remain at Jersey on loan and not be recalled for the game as we feel he will benefit from more game time in the RFU Championship while Ben Howard and Andrew Boyce are away with England at age group level.”

Supporters are reminded that the game will kick-off at the earlier time of 7pm and that entry on the night is a suggested donation of £3.

The game has been organised in conjunction with the ‘Little Warriors’ Community project. The six-week project has seen pupils from Christopher Whitehead Language School cover every aspect of the game, including Media, Hospitality and Fundraising.

Money raised on the night will be split between the Warriors Community Foundation, the charitable arm of the Warriors established to build a legacy for sport, education, health and social cohesion within our community, and SSAFA Forces Help,a British based charitable organisation set up to help former and serving members of the United Kingdom British Armed Forces and their families or dependents.
